This is the premiere episode of The Bella Buzz, a podcast about successful web marketing strategies for business owners. The show is hosted by Desiree Scales, Founder and CEO of Bella Web Design, one of the oldest and most successful web design firms in Atlanta. Her co-host is Joe Magennis a partner in the agency Fluid Media, also of Atlanta. The agency focuses on web marketing services including the development of rich media content including blogs, podcasts and video.
Since this is the inaugural show, we wanted to touch upon the reasons for doing a podcast in the first place, and how it can be applied to clients looking to develop converting content for their web sites.
Desiree immediately points out that this medium is very intimate, allowing for a relationship to form between listener and podcaster. In the realm of social media marketing, a key tenet is for the person, brand or company to be transparent. Podcasting is a very transparent approach to communication since it is not simply presenting refined talking points, rather it is the thoughts and ruminations of the podcasters at that given moment.
Regular subscribers will form a bond over shared interests, in some cases it might be knitting and running while for others it might be the topic of this podcast which is internet marketing. Podcasts are capable of providing extraordinarily niche content in search of an audience.
Podcasts are portable. They can be consumed at the desktop, streaming in the background while working on other tasks, but also they can be turned on in the car, on a run, or like Joe pushing a baby stroller! The process of subscribing to podcasts is as simple as purchasing a song on iTunes, so more users are becoming familiar with the concept of on demand content.
This week we follow up on a conference hosted in Atlanta called REtechSouth. The conference is designed to discuss the changes taking place in technology as it applies specifically to real estate agents and brokers.
Desiree was impressed with a particular presenter and believes that Jeff Turner is the Seth Godin of real estate. Jeff points out it's not about the numbers it's all about relationships, sharing, and learning from others. The real estate business and all of the orbiting industries such as mortgage brokers, builders and bankers can gain knowledge at this conference.
Discussed during one of the many breakout sessions, WeFollow.com is a new service that helps Twitter users to identify other people to follow and connect with. The service allows you to self-identify your areas of interest and to seek others who you might find interesting. A great concept to keep in mind as you build your network is the phrase "follow ideas, not people". By following ideas you will have a more enriching social networking experience rather than playing the game of numbers. If you interact and have compelling things to say .. the followers will come.
A shoutout to Brad Nix and Matt Fagioli who put the REtechSouth conference together, and a special congratulation to Brad who was just named Realtor of the Year for the Cherokee Association of Realtors.
To bring this first edition of The Bella Buzz podcast to a close, each Monday Desiree and Joe will discuss the current trends and opportunities in online marketing, touching upon everything from social media to SEO to web design.
So, thanks for listening. We will have an iTunes link for you to subscribe to as soon as we're approved, but in the meantime you can also use your RSS feed reader to receive the podcast.
