I've decided to cheat with this post and point you to a great article written just today by a super-smart blogger named Darren Rowse. Darren is the brainchild behind ProBlogger. I have been reading his blog about 2 years now and I always learn something great every time.
Today he's posted a great article called "Twitter for Beginners--5 Things to do as a New Twitter User" and I've already learned a few things from it such as how to grow my Twitter presence and find good people to follow.
Take a look at his post and I'm sure it will answer a lot of the same questions I get as to how Twitter works and why you would even want to use Twitter at all.
BTW, as an aside, this morning there were 9 explosions in Bangladore. Twitter users knew about them before CNN. This is the power of Twitter! The ability to spread information faster than our traditional methods and share stories quickly. In a matter of minutes I was "tweeting" with a reporter on the scene telling him to "stay safe." He was able to tell us from the front-lines what it was like out there. It was really an amazing experience which blew my mind.
On a daily basis I tweet with people from all over the world including England, India, Russia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Australia, South Africa, South America, Canada, the US and so many more countries I've lost count. What a powerful community of people I enjoy following on a day-to-day basis. I learn so much from them and it really makes me realize how small the world has truly become...its awesome!
