Site Optimization QuickTips: 4th of a 5 part Series

QuickTip #4: Make sure your home/index page has keywords in actual TEXT, not just flash and images. I once had an associate describe search engine spiders this way: "Think of them as little blind men who come to your site and feel their way around looking for keywords to bring back to the search engine database." If you site is full of invisible items such as flash or images, even though you may have a lot of keywords in your flash animation or in your images, they are invisible to the spiders and can't be "felt" in order to for your site to be properly indexed. How do you know if your home page has text? Text is what I'm typing now. It can be copied by your mouse by just holding the left button down and dragging your cursor over it. If you can't do that to the text on your home page, then you know you need to take another look at how its structured or hire someone you trust who can do it for you.
